TuLiPA - Parsing Extensions of TAG with Range Concatenation Grammars
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we present a parsing framework for extensions of Tree Adjoining Grammars (TAG) called TuLiPA (Tübingen Linguistic Parsing Architecture). In particular, besides TAG, the parser can process Tree-Tuple MCTAG with shared nodes (TT-MCTAG), a TAG-extension that has been proposed to deal with scrambling in free word order languages such as German. The central strategy of the parser is such that the incoming TT-MCTAG (or TAG) is transformed into an equivalent Range Concatenation Grammar (RCG) which, in turn, is then used for parsing. The RCG parser is an incremental Earley-style chart parser. In addition to the syntactic anlysis, TuLiPA computes also an underspecified semantic analysis for grammars that are equipped with semantic representations.

TuLiPA: A syntax-semantics parsing environment for mildly context-sensitive formalisms
In this paper we present a parsing architecture that allows processing of different mildly context-sensitive formalisms, in particular Tree-Adjoining Grammar (TAG), Multi-Component Tree-Adjoining Grammar with Tree Tuples (TT-MCTAG) and simple Range Concatenation Grammar (RCG). Furthermore, for tree-based grammars, the parser computes not only syntactic analyses but also the corresponding semant...
متن کاملTuLiPA: Towards a Multi-Formalism Parsing Environment for Grammar Engineering
In this paper, we present an open-source parsing environment (Tübingen Linguistic Parsing Architecture, TuLiPA) which uses Range Concatenation Grammar (RCG) as a pivot formalism, thus opening the way to the parsing of several mildly context-sensitive formalisms. This environment currently supports tree-based grammars (namely Tree-Adjoining Grammars (TAG) and Multi-Component TreeAdjoining Gramma...
متن کاملTree-Local Multicomponent Tree-Adjoining Grammars with Shared Nodes
This article addresses the problem that the expressive power of tree-adjoining grammars (TAGs) is too limited to deal with certain syntactic phenomena, in particular, with scrambling in freeword-order languages. The TAG variants proposed so far in order to account for scrambling are not entirely satisfying. Therefore, the article introduces an alternative extension of TAG that is based on the n...
متن کاملAn Earley Parsing Algorithm for Range Concatenation Grammars
We present a CYK and an Earley-style algorithm for parsing Range Concatenation Grammar (RCG), using the deductive parsing framework. The characteristic property of the Earley parser is that we use a technique of range boundary constraint propagation to compute the yields of non-terminals as late as possible. Experiments show that, compared to previous approaches, the constraint propagation help...
متن کاملParsing Directed Acyclic Graphs with Range Concatenation Grammars
Range Concatenation Grammars (RCGs) are a syntactic formalism which possesses many attractive properties. It is more powerful than Linear Context-Free Rewriting Systems, though this power is not reached to the detriment of efficiency since its sentences can always be parsed in polynomial time. If the input, instead of a string, is a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG), only simple RCGs can still be pa...
